Meet Dr. Ecer
Dr. Ecer's meteoric career began in his native Turkey and has brought him to a position in the United States of acknowledged leadership in the field of Clean Energy. Graduating first in his class from a high school specializing in math and sciences, Gunes (gu-NESH) obtained a Turkish government scholarship. After immigrating to the United States, he
earned all his academic degrees (BS, MS and PhD) in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh. In support of his PhD program, he was awarded a Pennsylvania Science Foundation Fellowship. Since January 1994, as president and owner of Applied Metallurgy and AppliedUS Corporations, Dr. Ecer has been keenly involved in the development of several novel technologies.
Prior to forming his own businesses, he worked in several Fortune 500 companies
(Westinghouse Research, Rockwell International and Smith International) as senior research and development (R&D) engineer, scientist, manager and director of materials research. He also served as the president of an R&D company developing a near net-shape powder metallurgy manufacturing method called the Ceracon Process.
In addition to his 29 issued and 3 pending patents, Dr. Ecer has authored 35 technical
publications and has received 12 awards, including two from the National Aeronautical and Space Association (NASA). Illustrative of his international standing, Dr. Ecer has conducted six United Nations-sponsored seminars in materials joining and automation at Technical University of Istanbul, Turkey.
