Technological Solution for the Energy Needs of Future Generations

"The world is facing twin energy-related threats: that of not having adequate and secure supplies of energy at affordable prices and that of environmental harm caused by consuming too much of it."
- International Energy Agency (World Energy Outlook 2006)

The current usage of our earth's resources is historically unprecedented in consumption, growth, dependence and destruction. According to the Energy Information Agency (EIA), worldwide energy consumption is doubling every nineteen years. If we are to have enough energy to meet the growing demand worldwide by the year 2030, a total of $200 billion dollars per year for the next 24 years must be spent on new energy resources and infrastructure (World Energy Outlook 2006) . Yet, the threat of Global Warming, desertification and a host other major negative environmental effects must be taken into consideration while building new energy infrastructure.

Geoternity is dedicated to creating sustainable energy technologies which will not adversely impact the earth. This is more than a mission statement; we have the knowledge, the team and the vision to make this a reality.

Our technology is not merely innovative, it is sustainable technology for future generations.

Nanotechnology

Over the past few centuries, the economic process of the specialization of labor has produced exquisitely rich intellectual and technological achievements; these achievements, however, are not lacking in dubious nature. Petroleum has become the foundation on which our technological pillars endure; it is thus noted that every single branch of our Industrialized Economy has a future which is, at least in the short term, directly correlated with the future of petroleum. For this reason, a twofold progressive path is necessary if a sustainable future is to be achieved within the U.S.: the first path is the path which ensures a secure supply of petroleum to the U.S. economy; the second path is the path which ensures the technological transition from finite to renewable sources of energy. A grievous future lies ahead if the U.S. economy fails to simultaneously pursue both of these paths. With this roadmap in focus, Geoternity is developing nanotechnology to increase access to the supply of petroleum from domestic sources.

The United States is the world's third largest producer of petroleum and has domestic reserves estimated at 1.124 trillion barrels (Undeveloped Domestic Oil Resources, 2006). However, current oil recovery technologies can retrieve an average of 1/3 of the original oil in-place within these vast reservoirs - the rest remains trapped and is labeled "stranded" oil. Geoternity's Thermotheon™ Nanostimulant Reservoir Technology has been designed to allow cost effective access to this "stranded" oil through the domestic wells owned and operated by domestic Small Producers.

Thermotheon™ also has the potential to address the retrieval of unconventional petroleum resources as effectively as it can access "stranded" resources. The combination of access to these two types of reserves represents a major portion of the domestic oil supply and, as a result, Thermotheon™ has the potential to make long-term, lasting contributions to the energy stability here in the U.S.

Laser Technology

Drilling deep into the earth is time consuming and expensive. Conventional and unconventional rotary drilling rigs are costly to purchase, operate and maintain. According to data from the Energy Information Agency (EIA), in 2006 approximately 52,000 miles of wells were drilled across the world. As the price of petroleum products increases, the demand for wells causes a shortage in the supply of rig time available - forcing the price of drilling upwards. The average cost of drilling an onshore oil well has nearly tripled in price over the years 2004-2007.

An increase in supply of drilling time is necessary immediately - laser drilling is the answer and Geoternity has responded by creating the “Archimedes” project.

Geoternity's Archimedes Project combines our laser innovations with the latest well construction technology to construct deep earth wells with significant increases in rate-of-penetration, material transfer efficiency and directional control, while decreasing cost, environmental impact and undesired direction deviations. Lasers can be controlled with such a precision and effectiveness, Archimedes displays the potential to eliminate “dry wells”, without using any drill bits! The resolution of these factors puts Archimedes ahead of its conventional drill competition by several technological generations.
